Imposter Syndrome? I’m Not Good Enough?

🚀It seems that the words #ImposterSyndrome are on everyone’s lips at the moment! It’s not surprising as over 70% of people will have experienced it at some point!

🚀Identifying signs of imposter syndrome can help you recognise and address the condition. Here are five common signs that you may be experiencing imposter syndrome:

🚀Self-Doubt, People with imposter syndrome often experience persistent self-doubt about their abilities, accomplishments, and worthiness. They may question whether they deserve their success or attribute their achievements to luck, timing, or external factors rather than their own skills and efforts.

🚀Perfectionism,  is a common trait among people with imposter syndrome. They may set excessively high standards for themselves and fear failure or making mistakes. Despite their accomplishments, they may focus on perceived shortcomings or areas for improvement, leading to feelings of inadequacy and self-criticism.

🚀Attributing Success to External Factors, People with imposter syndrome may downplay or dismiss their achievements by attributing them to external factors such as luck, connections, or favourable circumstances. They may struggle to internalise praise or recognition, believing that they are undeserving of accolades or accolades.

🚀Fear of Being Exposed, People with imposter syndrome often fear being exposed as a fraud, believing that others will eventually discover their perceived incompetence or lack of qualifications. They may go to great lengths to conceal their insecurities and maintain the mask of competence and confidence.

🚀Overworking or Overcompensating, Some people with imposter syndrome may be overworking in an attempt to prove their worth or avoid failure. They may take on excessive responsibilities, work long hours, or sacrifice their well-being in pursuit of validation and recognition from others.

🚀Recognising these signs can help you identify imposter syndrome in yourself or others and take steps to address it. Encouraging open communication, self-reflection, and self-compassion can support you in overcoming imposter syndrome and building confidence in your abilities.
