Employee or Entrepreneur?

Take Control of Your Destiny!

Are you in the business of entrepreneurship? Life is too short to spend it slaving away in a job that you hate and trying to scrape by only to find at retirement that you don’t have the savings needed to live the kind of lifestyle you always dreamed would be your reward. Some people just can’t see the world outside of their job or small business.

“You won’t get rich digging someone else’s ditch!”

I’ve had clients that absolutely hate their job and look at their own small business as a job. They are overworked and constantly stressed out to the point where they’re starting to experience stress-related health problems. I’m not exaggerating when I say their job is slowly killing them.

They constantly complain about their boss, co-workers, and pretty much everything related to their job. If they have their own business they complain about their employees, the state of the economy etc etc. They work extra hours all the time just to keep up. They are stuck in a situation where they just can’t win no matter what they do.

For better or worse, their employee mind-set is locked firmly in place and they can’t even imagine anything different.

Open Your Mind to New Possibilities!

When I was growing up my best mates dad who was also my boss, thought totally different to me or anyone else I had ever met. He was a business man and had an entrepreneur’s mind-set. I shifted my mind-set from employee to entrepreneur a long time ago, and if you’re looking to do the same here are a few things to consider.

Limiting Beliefs!

Many people struggle when they try to change their mind-set from employee to entrepreneur or business owner. They struggle with self-doubt and build barriers by telling themselves “No one would like my business idea” or “I could never make enough money doing that!”

They assume they would fail and so they give up without ever giving it a go.

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take!”

Starting a business can be stressful and there’s no guarantee of success. If you never take any action then failure IS guaranteed.

There are a lot of small business owners out there that still think like employees and they are the ones working longer and harder than everyone else for small rewards.

Embrace Your Fear!

Everyone thinks about quitting their job so they can start their own business and live life on their own terms. For most people it’s just a daydream that helps them escape the monotony of their job.

Only a few actually take steps to make their dream become a reality and if they do change the job, they don’t change the mind-set.

Why is that?

Fear!

Working for someone else is easy…

As a business owner you have many more responsibilities. The ultimate success or failure of the business lies directly on you. For some that can be a sobering thought, but for me it’s exhilarating. I’d rather place my fate in my own hands than in the hands of someone else.

Fear can be a powerful motivator. Fear is what makes me want to be my own boss. I fear that my earnings won’t keep up with inflation or that I’ll get laid off and won’t be able to pay my mortgage. I fear handing over my future and my family’s wellbeing to somebody else. I fear not having control of my destiny!

That fear is what drives me to get up early on weekends and stay up late at night building a business. Yes, it would be easier to sleep in or sit on the sofa watching TV all day. That’s fine for most people, but not for an entrepreneur. For me it’s not fear, its excitement!

Are You Ready to Commit?

An entrepreneur has to think about the big picture while also taking care of a thousand little details. Business owners often work many more hours than an employee does…

If you’re planning to follow the path of entrepreneurship you need to be prepared to work long and hard towards your goals. There will be times in the beginning where you’ll be tempted to give up because progress isn’t coming as quickly as you’d like.

You’ll wonder if it’s worth all the effort.

Will you have what it takes to keep going until you reach you goals?

However, just working hard isn’t the answer. You have to CHANGE your mind-set!

Over to You.

Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. It takes a lot more work and discipline than most people are willing to put in. But if you’re willing to put in the time now and CHANGE your mind-set it will change your life forever.

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t!”

“Its not until the pain of the same is greater than the pain of change, will we change!”

So when will you do something different?
